Multi-domain approach to modeling pantograph-catenary interaction

When a railway pantograph interacts with catenary during the movement of rail vehicle, several physical phenomena, both mechanical and electrical, occur in system. These phenomena affect quality power supply train from traction devices. The unfavourable arcing occurring when there are disturbances contact between pantograph’s slider wire. In turn, it results energy loss increased wear components designing new solutions, computational models helpful to predict interaction pantograph-contact line system already at virtual prototyping stage. this paper, authors comprehensively present multi-domain (multiphysics) model, which takes into account necessary conditions for elements catenary. Finally, impact individual domains analysed ones have significant on simulation operation identified.
